Targeting industry clusters
In addition to targeting specific industries, many plans for local economic development target so-called industry clusters (groups of related industries that may share common resources, such as similarly skilled workers or spe- cific types of infrastructure).
The Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation regional economic development strategy identifies seven industry clusters that are key to the health of the local economy.
One of these industry clusters is "Broadcasting and Communications," which includes a variety of related businesses employ- ing workers serving not just local consumers, but also statewide, national, and international markets in a variety of areas, including media production, elec- tronics engineering, and telecommunications services.
